The Old Bridge on the River Maritsa |

The Old Bridge on the river Maritsa is the only fully preserved part of the former comprehensive set of caravanserai, mosque, bazaar and hamam. It was built in 1529 by order of Mustafa Pasha, the vizier of Sultan Suleiman I the Magnificent. Simultaneously with the construction of the bridge, Mustafa Pasha was accepted as the founder of the new settlement called Svilengrad in Turkish Mustafa Pasha kyopryusyu ie "The Bridge of Mustafa Pasha".

The Medieval Fortress near the village of Mezek |

The ruins of one of the most -well preserved medieval fortresses in our country are situated on a hill west of the village of Mezek . The walls enclose an area of about 6.5 acres in the shape of an irregular quadrangle with size 110/60 m. The defense of the fortress was reinforced by nine towers, five of which were located on the southern wall, which was the most vulnerable. The construction of the fort should refer to the end of XI and beginning of XII century, probably during the reign of Aleksey I Komnin.

The Tomb in the village of Mezek |

It belongs to one of the most monumental facilities of this type found in the lands of ancient Thrace. The tomb is a facility oriented east-west with the entrance from the east. It is constructed of large stone blocks of "dry walling" without mortar. Blocks are connected with iron and oak brackets. Its total length is 29.95 meters. A corridor leads to two rectangular cameras. A circular chamber with a beehive dome follows. Representatives of the Thracian aristocracy were entomb in it . Many objects of gold, silver, bronze, iron, glass, tiles and clay were found in it. It was dated back from IV - III century BC.

The deaf stones thracian sanctuary, Haskovo region |

The Deaf Stones rock sanctuary shrine is one of the largest Thracian cult monuments. It includes several large rock blocks with deep gorges cut in. At the foot of one of the blocks a rock tomb chamber is carved. A bed and a small niche are cut in the eastern part of the rock chamber. There are traces of a second unfinished tomb to the side. In the rock block to the east a staircase is carved which leads to the summit with a well-shaped pool. The remaining three rocky peaks are dotted with more than 200 religious cult rock niches.

The Fortress Bukelon |

Matochina village is situated near the Bulgarian-Turkish border, on the right shore of the river Tundzha. At it northern end rises a steep hill accessible only from the village. There was a partition wall. There are only traces from it now. The Bukelon fortress began on 50 m. fom it up the hill. It is one of the best preserved military buildings in the country. The fortress was built during the Roman era. The great battle between the troops of Emperor Valent and the Goths took place in 387 near Bukelon. It ended with the complete defeat of the Roman army and the emperor died in the battle. The fortress was used and rebuilt over the centuries.

The Rock Church near the village of Mezek |

Rock church at the village of Mihalich is the only one in Bulgaria with unique trihonkal form. The whole is cut / carved / in a limestone cliff. In the plan it is a veritable arched trihonkalna church seems to be built of simple building material. Insite space is perceived as a cross-shaped-dome. At the bottom of the East turbinate / half dome shape of a quarter sphere / is made altar - wall slab stones. The rock church to look like built were the aim of the builders. It is carved central dome with a diameter of 5.5 m. and a height of 6 m floor In the middle of it. In the corner between east and left turbinate is carved cross with advanced inside shoulders tall 0.30 cm. There are not other images or paintings on the walls. The floor is made on the rock, which is covered with thin layer of soil/ to 0,10 m. /.
